Nearly 200 countries agreed to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels under the 2015 Paris Agreement, with a goal of 1.5 degrees Celsius, which scientists say would prevent the most serious and irreversible impacts climate change. Each country is responsible for setting its own national goals and policies to contribute to the overall goals of the Paris Agreement.
