Every morning, researchers from the Spanish Oceanographic Institute go to the beach with buckets. They take water samples for the laboratory, analyze the pH value and the number of microorganisms. And they measure the temperature on the beach. On the coast of Fuengirola in Andalucia this morning, the thermometer shows around 23 degrees. "A notch higher than would be expected at this point," says the employee. But tomorrow it could be different. Different winds washed sometimes warmer, sometimes cooler water on the coast of southern Spain. The trend of the last 40 years is more meaningful. And it shows clearly rising temperatures.
