The IFRC and its dedicated climate centre published today a comprehensive new guide  climate-smart programming and humanitarian operations for Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies. The manual, which is available in The full and comprehensive version focuses on how to use climate-related information to reduce risk and human vulnerability, and includes detailed annexes and user-friendly tools. Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers around the world are witnessing the reality of climate change, extreme weather and their consequences: more intense and more frequent the heat and cold waves, droughts, floods, heavy rainfall and storms, as well as slow initial impacts such as disappearing glaciers or rising sea levels that threaten and they often displace coastal communities.
