The United Arab Emirates, which is hosting this year's UN climate summit COP28, has set out "insufficient" plans to address its own contribution to climate change, an independent research group said on Thursday. The United Arab Emirates strengthened its climate commitment to be more ambitious earlier this month, and its summit leadership urged other countries to do the same ahead of the November talks. But the country's new pledge will see CO2 emissions rise even further by 2030, running counter to the sharp declines needed to limit climate change, according to research consortium Climate Action Tracker.
