A study from the University of Southern Denmark – published in the journal Communications Earth and Environment – urged people to sat down like in the Netherlands. The Dutch cycle an average of 2.6 kilometres per day. The study suggests that if this pattern were replicated worldwide, annual global carbon emissions would fall by 686 million tonnes. This huge number exceeds the entire carbon footprint most countries including United Kingdom , Canada , Saudi Arabia a Australia . (Charlotte Elton)
