Rising global temperatures are increasing the risk of workers dying or becoming disabled while working in extreme heat, an international conference has said. The conference, held in Qatar as spring temperatures soared to 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit), said tens of thousands of workers around the world had died in recent decades from chronic kidney disease and other illnesses linked to extreme heat. "The science tells us that all countries can do more," said Ruba Jaradat, the International Labor Organization's regional head for Arab countries, at the Occupational Heat Stress conference, which focused on climate change and how rising temperatures threaten workers' health.Agence France-Presse)
