The Pacific Islands Forum has developed the Blue Pacific 2050 Strategy, which is a bold growth plan for our region. It sets out a comprehensive and comprehensive strategy to address the many complex challenges we face, such as climate change. Manoa Kamikamica, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, says that investments in disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation can be implemented towards building the resilience of our economies and societies to ensure we are able to adapt to changing circumstances. Kamkamica adds that the Pacific region must work together and refocus its strategies if it is to be sustainable. “There are some key opportunities within the 2050 strategies, if anything it just refocuses our attention on the need for collaboration, but it is collaboration where everyone wins.” At the launch, it was heard that the Pacific region should seize this opportunity because it is particularly vulnerable to external shocks such as natural disasters and climate change.
