The first global survey of the use of sea-level rise (SLR) projections for coastal adaptation has revealed a „wide range“ of projections in use, a new study says. The researchers surveyed around 250 experts from 49 countries involved in coastal adaptation and planning. The researchers found that while the threat of SLR is „almost universally recognized,“ „only 72% of % respondents currently use SLR projections,“ with use to a lesser extent in developing countries. The researchers note that „there is no global standard for the use of SLR projections,“ and find that of those surveyed, „53 % plan using a single projection, while the remainder use multiple projections, with 13 % considering a high-probability scenario versus a low-probability scenario.“.
