Last week, hundreds of scientists, policymakers and journalists gathered at the University of Exeter to attend an international conference on “tipping points.” At the conference, experts discussed dangers of various turning points for the Earth system including the dying of the Amazon , melting Greenland glacier and stopping the Atlantic meridional circulation (AMOC).
Participants also explored “positive tipping points” – large-scale, self-developing societal changes that would reduce human impact on the climate.
