However, it is clear that further efforts are needed, also in light of the outcome of COP28 and the global call for accelerated action in this decade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In today&#039;s rating\u00a0<\/span><strong><span>The Commission calls on Member States to step up their efforts<\/span><\/strong><span>\u00a0on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and set out clearer plans for how they intend to adapt to climate change. It also calls on them to better prepare for the increased use of renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency measures. Further measures are also needed to empower consumers, improve energy security and support European companies in strengthening their competitiveness.
