{"id":9090,"date":"2023-12-07T22:06:18","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T21:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/?p=9090"},"modified":"2023-12-07T22:06:18","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T21:06:18","slug":"tipping-point-risk-assessment-report-and-social-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/2023\/12\/07\/tipping-point-risk-assessment-report-and-social-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Tipping Point Risk Assessment Report and Social Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Tipping points pose some of the greatest risks to our planet&#039;s life support systems and the stability of our societies.\u00a0<\/span><span>In an unprecedented effort by the scientific community, researchers have now published a comprehensive report on Earth system tipping points and their potential impacts and opportunities for societal change. <\/span><span>More than 200 scientists from around the world contributed to the &quot;Global Tipping Points Report.&quot;\u00a0<\/span><span>The 500-plus page report provides an authoritative guide to the state of knowledge about tipping points, explores opportunities to accelerate much-needed transformations, and outlines options for new management of tipping point risks and opportunities. \u201cThis report is the most comprehensive overview of tipping points in the Earth system to date,\u201d explains Sina Loriani of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), one of the report\u2019s lead authors. \u201cCrossing these thresholds can trigger fundamental and sometimes abrupt changes that could irreversibly determine the fate of fundamental parts of our Earth system for the next hundreds or thousands of years.
