The "COP28 UAE Declaration on Climate and Health", presented by the COP28 Presidency and the World Health Organization (WHO), places health at the center of climate action and calls for the accelerated development of sustainable and equitable climate-resilient health systems. Several climate and health financial commitments were announced to support the declaration. The declaration, endorsed by 123 countries, and the participation at the COP of several health ministers alongside their environmental counterparts, represents a world first among governments recognizing the growing health impacts of climate change on communities and countries. The Declaration recognizes the need for governments to protect communities and prepare health care systems to cope with climate-related health impacts such as extreme heat, air pollution and infectious diseases. It covers a range of action areas at the climate-health nexus, including building health systems more resilient to climate change, strengthening cross-sector cooperation to reduce emissions and maximize the health benefits of climate action, as well as increasing funding for climate and health solutions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
