From forest fires in Europe to floods in Pakistan, the reverberations of our failure to reduce emissions are felt on a global scale. The IPCC says emissions must peak before 2025 if we are to meet the Paris Agreement targets, but time is running out fast. <span>While some progress has been made \u2013 since the agreement was signed in 2015, projected greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 13 percent in 2030 \u2013 drastic reductions are still needed if warming is to be contained. In fact, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in its\u00a0<\/span><strong><span>Emissions Gap 2023 report<\/span><\/strong><span>\u00a0states that projected emissions must fall by a further 28 percent by 2030 to remain within the 2\u00b0C Paris Agreement. They need to drop a whopping 42 percent to have any hope of meeting the 1.5\u00b0C target. <\/span><span>According to UNEP, is there hope that emissions will peak over time, with greenhouse gas emissions rising by 1.2 percent between 2021 and 2022, with emissions reaching a record 57.4 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) in the same year?
