By the middle of the century, the EU would need to capture up to 550 million tons of CO2\u00a0<sub>2\u00a0<\/sub> annually to meet its goal of reducing emissions to net zero. In response to the EU&#039;s active support for CCUS, the dynamics of investment in research and implementation of CCUS has increased significantly in recent years. As of 2018, CINEA has built a portfolio of 84 projects covering \u20ac2.3 billion of EU grant contribution and involving 534 beneficiaries from 42 countries across the CCUS value chain. These projects are financed by three EU programmes: the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy\u00a0<button class=\"wt-unselected wt-laco wt-laco--button\" title=\"Search for available translations\" type=\"button\" aria-controls=\"laco-modal\"><\/button>(CEF Energy), Innovation Fund <button class=\"wt-unselected wt-laco wt-laco--button\" title=\"Search for available translations\" type=\"button\" aria-controls=\"laco-modal\"><\/button>(IF) and Horizon Europe\u00a0<button class=\"wt-unselected wt-laco wt-laco--button\" title=\"Search for available translations\" type=\"button\" aria-controls=\"laco-modal\"><\/button>(Climate and energy).<\/p>\n<p>To illustrate joint EU support for the emerging CCUS market and synergies<button class=\"wt-unselected wt-laco wt-laco--button\" title=\"Search for available translations\" type=\"button\" aria-controls=\"laco-modal\"><\/button>among the programs managed by CINEA, the agency launched a new digital tool that allows viewers to interactively find out how EU funds are distributed in the sector, which projects have received support and how these projects contribute to the promotion of cleantech innovation in Europe. in the sector, implement climate-friendly solutions and improve the environment and the lives of EU citizens.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The EU\u2019s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 relies, among other measures, on investments in carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).
