We do some things to fight climate change, usually more than the year before. But not fast enough to prevent some pretty terrifying destruction. &quot;Record broken,&quot; is the title of the latest UN report on emissions shortfalls. &quot;Temperatures hit new highs, but world fails (again) to cut emissions,&quot; subtitle.\u00a0<span>So far so gloomy. But the record may soon be broken, as some analysts predict emissions will peak in 2023. <\/span><span>From Cop29, we could read reports that this time the world has finally succeeded in reducing emissions \u2013 and not because the global economy has been brought to a standstill by the pandemic. <\/span><span>From then on, we will harm our planet less and less each year until we reach net zero and stop harming it at all. <\/span><span>It&#039;s still a matter of how quickly we reach that point and how much damage we do.<\/span>(<em>Joe Lo)<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This news may be starting to feel like deja vu.
