It is now \u201cvirtually certain\u201d that 2023 will be the hottest year on record. That\u2019s something no major climate science body expected at the start of the year. Scientists have long known that temperatures will continue to rise because humans continue to release record amounts of planet-warming greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, mainly through the burning of fossil fuels. This is the main cause of global warming. While they struggle to fully explain the \u201csurprising\u201d rise in temperatures in 2023, here are four other reasons that could be behind the increases.
