This year's record temperatures and the severe devastation of climate change underline the urgency of COP28, which is now a key crossroads. As we open the Global Inventory, it is a time for critical reflection \u2013 to measure our progress and confront the significant challenges that still lie ahead in our global response to climate change. In the midst of these considerations, voices from the Global South are being heard calling for concrete steps towards fulfilling the pledges to finance losses and damages. The focus is on bringing the fund established at COP27 to life, along with increasing financing for climate action and innovative economic strategies to strengthen adaptation efforts. The window to keep global temperatures below 1.5\u00b0C is closing, but a glimmer of hope remains. Positive change is within reach, driven by a confluence of leadership, commitment and strategic investment. We see new leaders in developing countries paving the way with innovative climate solutions.
