We are also one of the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and have contributed the least to it. <\/span><span>One issue is big and demands our attention. Our neighbor Australia is bidding to chair Cop31, the key meeting of global climate negotiators, in 2026 in partnership with the Pacific. <\/span><span>As part of a United Nations group known as Western Europe and Others, it will be primarily European countries that will decide whether this bid will proceed. I urge these countries to consider not just Australia\u2019s words but also its actions as it plans one of the world\u2019s largest fossil gas expansions in the period up to 2050.
