But it has reduced emissions by just 32 % over the past three decades. The Commission in its latest report\u00a0<\/span><span>on the state of the energy union<\/span><span> found that behind &quot;significant gaps&quot; for the next seven years .\u00a0<\/span><span>Current policies will reduce emissions by only 43 % in 2030, according to <\/span><span>new estimates <\/span><span>\u00a0project of the European Environmental Agency.  This number rises to 48 % if they include policies that have been planned but not yet implemented, but still have a climate deficit of seven percentage points.
