International\u00a0<\/span><span>energy agency<\/span><span>\u00a0outlined a plan to meet this goal and\u00a0<\/span><span>Secretary-General of the United Nations<\/span><span> He called on states to think seriously about reducing emissions to make it a reality.\u00a0<\/span><span>That goal is a fantasy. This summer, global warming has already brought average monthly\u00a0 <\/span><span>temperatures that exceeded<\/span><span>\u00a0pre-industrial average\u00a0<\/span><span>by 1.5 degrees<\/span><span>\u00a0It took more than a century for global annual average temperatures to reach their first\u00a0<\/span><span>degree<\/span><span>\u00a0, which happened around 2015. Climate data suggests that the next half-degree is likely to occur early\u00a0<\/span><span>1930s, if not earlier,<\/span><span>\u00a0and that\u00a0<\/span><span>2023 will be the warmest year<\/span><span> in history.
