It is therefore not surprising that mayors have joined national politicians in setting emission reduction targets within their jurisdictions.\u00a0 <\/span><span>Many UK cities have committed to becoming net zero before\u00a0<\/span><span>governmental<\/span><span>\u00a0goal by 2050 (v\u00a0<\/span><span>Scotland<\/span><span> it is the year 2045).\u00a0 <\/span><span>Manchester<\/span><span>\u00a0 aims to be net zero by 2038, <\/span><span>Liverpool<\/span><span>\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span><span>Birmingham<\/span><span>\u00a0until 2030.\u00a0<\/span><span>Nottingham<\/span><span> it expects to become the first carbon neutral city in the UK as early as 2028.
