This is a successful bet by Velux,\u00a0<\/span><span>roof window specialist<\/span><span> and Effekt Architects, through 7 models of wooden houses visible in\u00a0<\/span><span>Copenhagen<\/span><span> entitled Living Places: 5 open prototypes and two closed model houses, one with a timber frame and one made of cross-laminated timber.\u00a0<\/span><span>The carbon emissions of a Living Places wooden house are 3.8 kilograms of C02 per square meter per year, compared to just over 11 kilograms of C02 per square meter per year in a traditional Danish house. If all single-family homes were built according to the Living Places model, one million tons of C02 could be saved every year, knowing that the construction industry accounts for 1\/3 of the world&#039;s energy consumption and C02 emissions.
