They are present in the atmosphere in smaller quantities than CO2 but can have a significant warming effect. MEPs call for an ambitious reduction in emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases and ozone-depleting substances. They support the Commission\u2019s proposal to increase the use of alternatives to fluorinated greenhouse gases and ozone-depleting substances where possible, or to introduce measures to reduce their leakage and emissions during production or use.
