As one of Ireland&#039;s most important habitats, a meadow can support a large number of species both above and below ground. During the summer months the meadows, which usually grow to about knee height, can have more than 500 flowers\/m\u00a0<sup>2<\/sup> in a mixture of wildflowers and grasses. A meadow has the potential to support thousands of different species such as bees; hovercraft; plagues; worms; locusts; bugs and butterflies. Plants found in meadows may include yellowtail; red clover; ragged-robin; meadow; bird&#039;s hornbill and cornflower.
