{"id":37920,"date":"2025-10-06T08:05:19","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T06:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/?p=37920"},"modified":"2025-10-06T08:06:01","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T06:06:01","slug":"food-waste-reduction-targets-under-the-eu-2025-1892-waste-directive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/2025\/10\/06\/food-waste-reduction-targets-under-the-eu-2025-1892-waste-directive\/","title":{"rendered":"Food waste reduction targets under Directive (EU) 2025\/1892 on waste"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Food waste reduction targets to be achieved by Member States by <strong>December 31, 2030<\/strong> at national level, are set out in <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/SK\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=OJ:L_202501892\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Directive (EU) 2025\/1892<\/span><\/a>amending Directive 2008\/98\/EC on waste.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Member States must take the necessary and appropriate measures to achieve the following quantified food waste reduction targets:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Reducing the amount of food waste generated during processing and production<\/strong> about <strong>10 %<\/strong> compared to the annual average amount of food waste generated between 2021 and 2023.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reducing the amount of food waste generated per capita<\/strong> (collectively in retail and other food distribution, in restaurants and food services, and in households) about <strong>30 %<\/strong> compared to the annual average amount of food waste generated between 2021 and 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The setting of these quantified targets serves as a strong political impetus for action and is intended to make a significant contribution to achieving the global Sustainable Development Goal 12.3 (UN), which is to reduce the amount of global food waste per capita by half by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The reference period for setting these targets is <strong>annual average from 2021 to 2023<\/strong>However, if a Member State is able to provide data collected before 2021 (using the harmonised methodology of the Delegated Decision <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/dec_del\/2019\/1597\/oj\/eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Commission (EU) 2019\/1597<\/span><\/a> or comparable methods for years before 2020), may use an earlier year as the reference period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional information about the goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reducing food waste throughout the food supply chain has <strong>significant positive impact on the environment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Waste reduction targets at the production and consumption stages require different approaches and measures. For retail, distribution and consumption (restaurants, food services and households) a <strong>one common goal<\/strong>, expressed as a percentage change per capita, which takes into account population changes and the interdependence of these stages of the supply chain.<\/li>\n<li>The Commission shall, by 17 October 2027, adopt implementing acts laying down: <strong>correction factor<\/strong> taking into account the increase or decrease in tourism to support Member States in achieving the per capita target (30 % target).<\/li>\n<li>The Commission will also examine <strong>December 31, 2027<\/strong> the targets set for 2030, to adjust and\/or extend them to other links in the food supply chain where necessary and to consider setting new targets beyond 2030. <em><strong>JRi<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The food waste reduction targets to be achieved by Member States by 31 December 2030 at national level are set out in Directive (EU) 2025\/1892 amending Directive 2008\/98\/EC on waste.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-37920","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-znizovanie_co2_cdr_ccs_ccu_dac"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/37920","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/7"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=37920"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/37920\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=37920"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=37920"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=37920"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
