Low rainfall, dry soils and shrinking rivers are putting pressure on ecosystems, agriculture and transport routes across Europe and neighbouring regions.<\/p>\n
The latest data shows declining river flows and worsening drought: these conditions are caused by warmer than average weather and lower rainfall across much of the continent since the start of the year, according to a report on\u00a0drought in Europe \u2013 April 2025<\/a><\/span>\u00a0, published today by the JRC.<\/p>\n The report says that as forecasts through June show drier than average conditions in northern and western Europe, concerns are growing about the impact on agriculture, river transport and ecosystems.
