The aim is to transform European industry with the aim of achieving a sustainable and resilient economy by 2030.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The main points of the plan include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Access to affordable energy<\/strong>: Ensure access to affordable energy for industry, in particular for energy-intensive sectors, through measures such as power purchase agreements (PPAs) and contracts for difference (CfDs). The Commission will launch a programme for corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with an indicative budget of EUR [XX] billion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accelerating clean energy deployment and manufacturing<\/strong>: Supporting the rapid deployment of clean energy by simplifying permitting procedures for energy, energy storage and grid projects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ensuring well-functioning gas markets<\/strong>: Ensure transparency and prevent abuse of the gas market.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supporting demand for decarbonized products<\/strong>: Creating demand for clean technologies and products that will enable the EU to become a world leader in the clean transition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public procurement and incentives for private purchases<\/strong>: Using public procurement to support sustainable industrial ecosystems and create jobs. The Commission will focus on simplifying carbon accounting methods.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supporting the deployment of low-carbon hydrogen<\/strong>: Supporting the development of the hydrogen value chain in the EU.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public and private investments<\/strong>: Mobilising investment in decarbonisation and clean energy, through a combination of European, national and private resources. The EU needs to increase its annual investment in industry, energy and transport by around \u20ac480 billion. InvestEU is the EU&#039;s main instrument for leveraging private investment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Skills and quality jobs<\/strong>: Supporting skills development and reskilling of workers to ensure a just transition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation in various industries<\/strong>: Adapting measures to the specific needs of individual industrial sectors, such as the automotive, chemical and steel industries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global markets and international partnerships<\/strong>: Achieving goals through international cooperation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Between <strong>measures<\/strong> includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Targeted amendment to the Regional Development Regulation<\/li>\n<li>Establishment of an industrial decarbonization facility<\/li>\n<li>Launch of a pilot auction within the Innovation Fund<\/li>\n<li>Increasing InvestEU&#039;s risk-bearing capacity<\/li>\n<li>EIB vehicle for broader IPCEI support<\/li>\n<li>Adoption of a new State aid framework for clean industries<\/li>\n<li>Recommendation to Member States to adopt tax incentives to support the Clean Industrial Deal<\/li>\n<li>First list of strategic projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act<\/li>\n<li>Creation of clusters for critical raw materials for joint purchasing and strategic stock management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Commission will closely monitor progress towards achieving the decarbonisation and competitiveness objectives. <em><strong>Spring<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Glossary of key terms<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Clean Industrial Deal:<\/strong> A common roadmap for the competitiveness and decarbonisation of European industry.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Decarbonization:<\/strong> The process of reducing carbon emissions, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2), associated with industrial activities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reindustrialization:<\/strong> Revival and strengthening of industrial production in Europe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NEACPs (National Energy and Climate Plans):<\/strong> National energy and climate plans, national strategies for achieving EU climate goals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PPA (Power Purchase Agreement):<\/strong> An agreement to purchase energy directly from the producer, often from renewable sources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>EIB (European Investment Bank):<\/strong> European Investment Bank, an EU institution providing financing for projects that support EU policy objectives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Circular Economy:<\/strong> Circular economy; an economic system in which waste is minimized and the reuse of materials and products is maximized.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act:<\/strong> Legislation aimed at accelerating permitting processes for industrial decarbonization projects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Union of Skills:<\/strong> An initiative to better match skills and education with labour market needs in Europe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>European Fair Transition Observatory:<\/strong> The European Just Transition Observatory, which monitors and assesses the impacts of decarbonization on workers and communities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism):<\/strong> A carbon footprint adjustment mechanism at EU borders, aimed at preventing carbon leakage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Clean Industrial Deal is a plan for the EU&#039;s competitiveness and decarbonisation.
