While mitigation focuses on <strong>solution to the causes<\/strong> climate change, adaptation focuses on adjusting to its consequences. Both strategies are essential and complementary in the effort to ensure a sustainable future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Climate mitigation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitigation<\/strong> (from English) <em>mitigation<\/em>) means mitigating or limiting greenhouse gas emissions, with the aim of slowing global warming and reducing the extent of future climate change. These are measures that are intended to prevent or reduce the intensity of climate change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitigation objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Reduce greenhouse gas emissions (such as CO\u2082, CH\u2084, N\u2082O) into the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Increase carbon sequestration \u2013 i.e. removing CO\u2082 from the atmosphere and storing it in natural systems (e.g. forests, soil).<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Reduce radiative forcing \u2013 limit factors that contribute to heat trapping in the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples of mitigation measures:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Transition to renewable energy sources:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Using solar, wind, hydropower and biomass instead of fossil fuels.<\/p>\n<p>2. Water management measures:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Building flood barriers, improving drainage systems, efficient water management.<\/p>\n<p>2. Agroforestry practices:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Growing resistant crops, changing sowing timing, agroforestry systems.<\/p>\n<p>3. Urban planning solutions:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Creating green areas in cities, improving the thermal resistance of buildings, adapting infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>4. Health measures:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Strengthening early warning systems, preparedness for extreme temperatures, prevention of the spread of diseases.<\/p>\n<p>5.
