Jerry DeMarco,\u00a0<\/span><span>Commissioner for the Environment in the Office of the Auditor General<\/span><span>\u00a0,\u00a0<\/span><span>criticized the government&#039;s record<\/span><span>\u00a0as a litany of broken promises:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span>&quot;We repeatedly sounded the alarm. Now these bells are almost deafening.&#039;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Canada is the only G7 country with\u00a0<\/span><span>carbon emission levels in 2022 that are higher than in 1990. <\/span><span>It has one of the highest greenhouse gas emissions per capita in the world<\/span><span>\u00a0and her\u00a0<\/span><span>the fossil fuel industry is also one of the largest in the world.
