The main objective of this regulation is <strong>improve transparency<\/strong> a <strong>comparability<\/strong> reference values in terms of <strong>environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The regulation introduces the following key requirements for benchmark administrators:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Explanation of ESG factors:<\/strong> Administrators must explain which ESG factors they took into account when developing the benchmark methodology. This explanation should include:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Which ESG factors are considered<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>How these factors are reflected in the key elements of the methodology<\/strong>, including the selection, weights and metrics of the underlying assets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data sources and standards used<\/strong> for each ESG factor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Whether ESG objectives are followed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Using the pattern:<\/strong> The regulation provides <strong>a specific pattern<\/strong>, which managers should use to explain ESG factors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Update information:<\/strong> Administrators must <strong>update regularly<\/strong> information provided to reflect changes in methodology and to indicate the reason for the update.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exceptions:<\/strong> Regulation <strong>does not apply<\/strong> to:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Commodity reference values<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reference values without underlying assets<\/strong>, which have an impact on climate change (for example, interest rates and exchange rates).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The regulation emphasizes <strong>the importance of ESG factors<\/strong> in the investment process and tries to provide investors <strong>clearer information<\/strong> on how these factors are taken into account in the reference values.
