The same methods cannot effectively capture carbon dioxide from the surrounding air, where concentrations are hundreds of times lower than in flue gas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-8 main less-padding-right hyphenate\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8 col-md-push-4\">\n<div id=\"story_text\" class=\"hyphenate underline\">\n<div id=\"text\" data-content-ads-inserted=\"true\" data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\">\n<p data-slot-rendered-content=\"true\">Still, direct air capture or DAC is counted on to reverse the rise in CO levels\u00a0<sub>2<\/sub> , which reached 426 parts per million (ppm), which is 50 % more than before the industrial revolution. Without it, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we will not achieve humanity&#039;s goal of limiting warming to 1.5 \u00b0C (2.7 \u00b0F) above current global averages.
