{"id":30008,"date":"2024-09-04T14:41:35","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T12:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/?p=30008"},"modified":"2024-09-04T14:42:23","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T12:42:23","slug":"how-6-emissions-heavy-industries-are-working-on-decarbonization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/2024\/09\/04\/how-6-emissions-heavy-industries-are-working-on-decarbonization\/","title":{"rendered":"How 6 industries with heavy emissions are working on decarbonization"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wef-h792s0\">\n<p>Ten years ago, before the Paris Agreement was negotiated at COP21, the high-emissions sectors of heavy industry and heavy transport were considered almost impossible to decarbonise or &quot;too hard to reduce&quot;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wef-h792s0\">\n<p>According to the Paris Agreement, we must reach net zero CO2 emissions by 2050 to limit global warming to 1.5\u00b0C compared to pre-industrial levels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wef-h792s0\">\n<p>Aviation, shipping, trucking, aluminium, cement and concrete and steel account for around 25 % of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which could rise to 50 % by 2050 if left unchecked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wef-h792s0\">\n<p>Today, however, these six sectors are taking key steps to decarbonise through the work of the 99 members of the First Movers Coalition (FMC) and its 13 government partners.
