This future atmosphere will likely have high levels of methane and low levels of oxygen. This loss is expected to occur before the onset of wet greenhouse conditions in the Earth&#039;s climate system and widespread depletion of surface water. A drop in oxygen levels will make the planet uninhabitable for humans and most other oxygen-dependent life forms.
