Copper atoms are embedded in a nanocrystalline structure that allows electrons to pass from carbon nitride to CO\u00a0<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0, which is a necessary step in the production of methanol from CO\u00a0<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0\u00a0under the influence of sunlight.
