This drop is thanks to stricter emissions targets being implemented from 2020. Emissions from commercial vehicles decreased by approximately 10 % over the same period. It found that only one producer exceeded its 2022 target and will have to pay a fee for excess emissions.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, 9.4 million new passenger cars were registered in the EU, Iceland and Norway. Their average emissions of carbon dioxide (CO\u00a0<sub>2 ) during laboratory testing, there were 108.1 g of CO\u00a0<\/sub><sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0\/km, which is 5.3 % below the 2021 average (114.1 g CO\u00a0<sub>2<\/sub> \/km) and 27 % below the level of 2019.
