Members of the group Last Generation have repeatedly blocked roads across Germany over the past year in an attempt to force the government to take stronger action against climate change. They have occupied roads several times, angering some motorists and prompting accusations of extremism from conservative politicians. In addition to the roadblocks, the activists said they would also block traffic with a very slow march through the city later in the day. There were about 20 roadblocks across the city in the morning, German news agency dpa reported. \u201cWe will no longer accept that the government has no plans to stop the destruction of our livelihood,\u201d Last Generation said in a statement. \u201cNow we are fighting back.\u201d Berlin police said up to 500 police officers would be on the streets of the city throughout the day to prevent the blockades or end them quickly, dpa reported.
