The EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2030 is the cornerstone of nature conservation in the EU.<!--more--> and a key element\u00a0<strong>European Green Deal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission presented the strategy in May 2020. The main actions to be taken by 2030 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>creation\u00a0<strong>protected areas on at least 30 % of EU land and sea<\/strong>, which will expand existing Natura 2000 areas<\/li>\n<li>restoring degraded ecosystems across the EU by 2030 through a set of concrete commitments and measures, including reducing exploitation and risks<strong>\u00a0pesticides by 50 %\u00a0<\/strong>by 2030 and plantings<strong>\u00a03 billion<\/strong>\u00a0trees across the EU<\/li>\n<li>allocation<strong>\u00a0EUR 20 billion per year\u00a0<\/strong>to protect and promote biodiversity through EU funds and national and private funding<\/li>\n<li>creating an ambitious global framework for biodiversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EU countries have adopted\u00a0<strong>conclusions of the Council<\/strong> on the strategy and approved its targeted.
