Farmers in Poland, Spain, Italy and Hungary demonstrated on Friday as part of ongoing protests against agricultural policy of the European Union and demanded measures to combat rising production costs, falling profits and unfair competition from countries outside the EU.<\/p>\n
Farmers complain that the environmental and agricultural policies of the 27 EU countries related to the European Green Deal are a financial burden and make their products more expensive than imports from outside the EU.<\/p>\n
Imports of cheap grain, milk and other products from neighboring Ukraine have hit Polish farmers hard. In protest, they have driven their tractors across the country to slow traffic and block major roads. The tractors carried Polish flags and honked their horns, and some displayed signs saying "Stop the Green Deal" and "Stop imports from Ukraine."
