And more and more people are feeling the consequences directly \u2013 most recently in Chile, where more than 120 people have been killed\u00a0<\/span><span>forest fires<\/span><span>\u00a0, which was partly caused by climate change. Global warming has also contributed to the fact that\u00a0<\/span><span>atmospheric rivers<\/span><span>\u00a0they drowned California in torrential rains, created mudslides and caused that\u00a0<\/span><span>hundreds of thousands of people lost power<\/span><span>\u00a0. Scientists now say that climate change may lead them to\u00a0<\/span><span>added category 6<\/span><span>\u00a0on the hurricane scale. January 2024 was\u00a0<\/span><span>the ninth warmest month<\/span><span>\u00a0in history and the next record month after 2023 was\u00a0<\/span><span>the warmest year in history<\/span><span>\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>You&#039;d think all of this would finally make Americans prioritize climate protection. Instead, many stand behind a man who does not accept the scientific consensus on climate change, who mocks what he calls\u00a0<\/span><span>climate fanaticism<\/span><span>\u00a0, and promises to &quot;drill, drill, drill&quot; from day one in office. And American banks are changing their minds and\u00a0<\/span><span>they are again investing in fossil fuel infrastructure<\/span><span> . Under these circumstances, it should be considered criminal. No wonder the rest of the world looks at us in disbelief.
