This investment is part of the EU&#039;s wider efforts to decarbonise the energy system and achieve the targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions set out in\u00a0<\/span><span>European Green Agreement<\/span><span>\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Funds have been allocated to several carbon dioxide (CO2) projects, including a maximum of \u20ac189 million to D&#039;Artagnan, a CO export hub\u00a0<\/span><sub><span>2<\/span><\/sub><span>\u00a0\u00a0in the port of Dunkirk, France; EUR 157 million for CO infrastructure\u00a0<\/span><sub><span>2<\/span><\/sub><span>\u00a0\u00a0in the port of Rotterdam (Netherlands), which includes an import terminal and 200 km of submarine transmission line; and \u20ac2.54 million for the EU CCS Interconnection, CO Infrastructure Project\u00a0<\/span><sub><span>2<\/span><\/sub><span>\u00a0\u00a0in Gdansk (Poland). The Northern Lights Initiative, a cross-border project linking CO capture initiatives\u00a0<\/span><sub><span>2<\/span><\/sub><span>\u00a0\u00a0in several EU member states and Norway, also raised \u20ac131 million.
