The countries mentioned added that they can convince others to step up their activity only if they do their work at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The sought goal should be in accordance with the principles of the European climate law, the letter says. For example, the best available scientific knowledge should be taken into account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The target should also reflect cost-effectiveness, a fair and just transition to climate neutrality and the costs of inaction, as well as the advice of the European Scientific Advisory Committee on Climate Change, the letter added.
