{"id":23887,"date":"2024-01-20T08:49:43","date_gmt":"2024-01-20T07:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/?p=23887"},"modified":"2024-01-20T08:49:43","modified_gmt":"2024-01-20T07:49:43","slug":"panel-studies-on-the-impact-of-climate-change-on-life-expectancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.co2news.sk\/en\/2024\/01\/20\/panel-studies-on-the-impact-of-climate-change-on-life-expectancy\/","title":{"rendered":"A panel study on the impact of climate change on life expectancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Climate change threatens the lives and health of billions of people today.\u00a0<\/span><span>Life expectancy is generally used as the best metric to assess the health of a country&#039;s population.\u00a0<\/span><span>In this context, this paper examines the impact of climate change on life expectancy using a panel data model.\u00a0<\/span><span>To this end, imprimis, this paper develops a conceptual framework linking the direct and indirect pathways through which climate change affects health.\u00a0<\/span><span>Direct paths lead through variable weather and natural disasters.\u00a0 <\/span><span>Indirect pathways are mediated through economic systems and ecosystems.\u00a0<\/span><span>This paper then estimates the impact of climate change on life expectancy using international data from 191 countries covering the period 1940\u20132020 and using a fixed effect method.\u00a0<\/span><span>The finding of this study suggests that if the average annual temperature increases by 1\u00b0C, then life expectancy at birth will decrease by 0.44 years.
