The aim is to further reduce CO emissions\u00a0<sub>2<\/sub> in the road transport sector and introduce new targets for 2030, 2035 and 2040. The new rules will contribute to meeting the EU&#039;s climate ambitions by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The proposal also aims to support the increasing share of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the heavy-duty vehicle fleet across the EU, while ensuring that innovation in the sector and its competitiveness are maintained and strengthened.
