A leaked draft of an “industrial carbon management plan” reveals the EU executive’s belief that the bloc will need to capture the equivalent of 450 million tonnes of CO2 each year to meet that goal. The ambitious plan, due to be presented on 6 February, is linked to an interim target of cutting emissions by 2040, which scientific advisers recommend at least 90% below 1T3T.
