Using simulations from the United Kingdom Earth System Model (UKESM1), the researchers predict \u201crapid warming of the Amundsen Sea driven by Ross Gyre expansion that is independent of the driving scenario.\u201d This \u201cwill increase continental shelf temperatures in the Amundsen and Bellingshausen Seas by more than 1\u00b0C in just \u223c30 years,\u201d the paper says.
