The impact of climate change is most acute in the polar regions of the Earth. The Arctic and Antarctic are rapidly warming, which has dramatic consequences not only for the local environment, but also for the entire world. This package of CORDIS results represents the scientific progress made by 13 EU-funded projects studying the polar regions, climate change and the ocean-climate-cryosphere nexus, addressing important gaps in understanding, modeling and predicting vulnerable components of the Earth's climate system and the biosphere.
